The limitation, stated plainly

Offbeat requires hearing. The whole game is judging sound, and Odd One Out is deliberately built so it cannot be solved by looking at anything. There is no visual alternative that preserves the game, because the alternative would be the answer.

This is a known and accepted limitation rather than an oversight. Deaf and hard-of-hearing players cannot play the core mechanic, and we would rather say so here than let someone find out by failing a puzzle. The requirement is stated on the page itself and in the How-to-play panel.

What is accessible

Everything around the game is built to WCAG 2.2 AA and is regression-tested on every build:

• Every game is fully playable by keyboard. Space, Enter, 1–3 and A–C are bound per game, and focus is always visible.
• Colour never carries meaning on its own. Every score marker has a glyph, every result row prints the word, and the reveal grid uses texture and border style as well as colour.
• Results are announced to screen readers through a polite live region as they happen, and each round marker has its own label.
• Every fill clears 3:1 against the background and every piece of text clears 4.5:1. The ratios are asserted by an automated test, not eyeballed.
• The interface respects prefers-reduced-motion and prefers-color-scheme.
• Text reflows to 320px wide and survives 200% zoom.
